Having a love-hate relationship with these bells

UPDATE: Okay, now I'm on my third bell because the lever to activate the bell keeps breaking, so I've deducted two stars. As much as I love this concept, that will be the last thing I will worry about. The first bell lever broke shortly after buying it in July 2019 while washing the bike. The bristles of the soft brush I used to wash the bike broke the fragile lever. I got a replacement from the company. Two weeks ago, while skiing, a branch was hanging from a sticker bush across the path (because it rained a couple of times during the week). I just took my left hand off the bars and let the thin branch bang against the bars because there was no place to turn around because there were sticker bushes growing on the other side of the trail. I didn't think about it until I had to use the bell to warn the traveler and realized the lever was gone. My previous two calls were to the older model. I bought this version 4 model and the only difference I see is that the base of the plastic arm is a bit wider, but that will probably do little to keep it from breaking. They really need to change the way the bell activates so there isn't a thin piece of plastic sticking out. The downside of this new version is that it's much more difficult to activate and deactivate. I'm tempted to spray grease or something into the lever but I'll leave it as is and hope it loosens up. In my photo, I'm holding an old lever over a new lever. Oh, I also forgot to mention that on my second chime earlier this year the real metal bell came loose and I had to use needle nose pliers and tighten the nut that secures the bell to the plastic case. It wasn't easy as there isn't much space, but it's doable. Version 4. ORIGINAL REVIEW: After seeing a little "YouTube'r" from Arizona using this call, I thought it would be a good idea to tag him along after a few encounters with other bikers and hikers in backcountry lots of vegetation to buy. This item has been fantastic for the five weeks I have been using it. 95% of tourists leave the street without saying anything. Hikers often stood at the edge of the trail long before I could see them. Some tourists find this annoying, but most enjoy it. This works just as well for other mountain bikers, as slower riders will avoid you if they have the opportunity if they hear you behind them. When I first got it I thought I might get annoyed with the constantly ringing ringer because it almost sounds like a tricycle bell, but honestly, within the first 15 minutes my brain just turned off the ringer. Now I don't notice the bell at all unless I meet another rider or traveler on the trail. The only criticism of the bell is that the anti-bell switch and the clip are made of plastic. I want the switch and clip to be aluminum. That being said, the company's owners have a fair return policy: if your call gets dropped, you can send it to them and they will fix it and ship it back to you for free.
