Review on Pyramid Lined Cable Housing Roll by Josh Maher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not just for bikes anymore!

I need to repair, replace, rebuild and adjust cables for various devices. I believe I am indebted to Sir Frank Bowden, founder and owner of the Raleigh Bicycle Company c. 1902 for the invention of this "Bowden cable cover". Special length cables or repair cables are produced quickly, easily and very durable with this method: one. Determine the length you need, cut about 1/4 inch. Two. Carefully trim the ends on a thin grinding wheel, being careful not to overheat. Use an awl or similar object to ensure the inner liner is fully open. Four. Insert a local 1/16" cable (stainless steel or not, 1/16" only). Five. Solder your custom ends in place. This is a very strong and durable cable housing that allows for precise control of things like brakes, throttle, hydraulic actuators, spring loaded lock pins, etc. The possibilities are endless with a reel of this internal cable. Length, solder and custom ends. The 1/16" cable is tight enough on the inner sleeve for precise control, but loose enough for easy, friction-free movement and absolutely no snagging. This is a wonderful couple.

Pros
  • Cables and switch housing
Cons
