Switch to metal bands now!

We were on a trip to Washington state during a very strong hurricane. As a result, one of the factory rubber bands broke. The hood dangled so much that we couldn't even break the speed limit. Luckily we were able to tie the hood back on using wire we found on the street and a strap from a camera bag. As soon as I could, I ordered some metal ones. Since then no problems.
