I can make about 50 liters of apple sauce every year. I bought this device to speed up the core and quarter removal of apples. Having put this slicer through 150 pounds of apples, I can say with confidence that this slicer will stand up to heavy use. The benefit of using this applesauce slicer is that it minimizes waste significantly when slicing apples and also makes thinner slices (compared to quartering by hand). Thinner slices will cook much faster than larger quarters. The only improvement I can think of would be if the manufacturer covered the grips in rubber. Polished metal handles become slippery in wet hands. Would buy again without hesitation.
