Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Extended Power Cable for Beltronics / Escort / V1 Radar Detectors by Hector Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with Valentine One, replaces Valentine One OEM parts costing around $45

Valentine One makes great radar detectors. I've been using them exclusively for over 20 years. Today's problem is that the 'direct plug kit' provided by Valentine One is very difficult to fit into new cars unless you do it at a specialty shop and then it will cost you $150 if you do the case is. Simply put, you need to find a 12V power source near your Valentine One that will only supply power when the ignition is on and will turn off when the ignition is off. Otherwise, the Valentine One may drain the battery if the vehicle is parked for a long period of time. And you have plenty of room to stow the bulky Valentine One power converter out of sight and other cables. When I was stupid enough to own a BMW, the dealership did NOT install Valentine One direct wire power taps because they were then installed after market power supplies, several of their "experienced" technicians deployed the airbags and one blew up the car's CPU. which has cost the dealer thousands of dollars. Today, my former BMW dealer does not install non-BMW electrical equipment. The same goes for Subaru, Mazda and probably many other automakers. What does a Valentine One user do? Run the longer cable to the 12V socket in the car. It's safe, easy to remove, works well, and if done right, is completely hidden. The problem is that Valentine One only makes an 8-foot power cord (it's actually a phone cord), and it's not long enough to run it through a larger car, like an SUV, from the windshield to a 12-volt outlet lead in the console. You will also need a 12v valentine one plug plus 2 x 8ft power cords + shipping = about $40 plus a plug to connect 2 x 8ft power cords for another $3 from Revain . I have tried longer phone cords from Revain and other manufacturers. Sources, and many of them won't include the Valentine One due to the way the wiring is set up. It's really annoying to find an aftermarket phone cord that will power the Valentine One. This long universal power cord solves all of those problems for about $14 and works great. It's well made, durable, and easy to install if you're careful and just thread the cable under the body parts. Hope that helps!
