Proper installation of parts and tools helps or breaks

I love this filter housing - low initial cost, minimal maintenance, good flow rate for a sink and good quality. However, to do this you need to have the right tools and parts. Details matter. For filters - use the Pentek brand name for a suitable and quality filter - carbon block filter cartridge CBC-10, 9-3/4" x 2-7/8", 0.5 micron as the main seat followed by Either GAC -10- or Pentek CC-10 Carbon Drinking Water Filters with Coconut Activated Charcoal (9.75" x 2.875") produce noticeably tastier water. Gave my friend who sells water from Fiji a blind taste test - she swore my water doubled that she thought it was 1) Fiji branded water and 2) tasted better before I broke the news that she was about mine tap water was enthusiastic. Don't waste your money on generic filters that don't fit and may not be certified. I'm very humble, so I don't say this lightly. For a sump filter, funds permitting, I would recommend the larger 20x4.5 inch model. Pentek actually makes a decent water softener filter depending on how much sediment you have. The other important part of the installation is the fittings. - I had to switch to HD to get the right dimensions and Amazon pricing is a terrible place to get info right now. Your hoses will be different, but there is an additional 3/8" x 3/8" braided compression cable under my faucet. , 3/8" OD John Guest blue hose with 3/8" NPT to 3/8" JG adapters to connect between filter housings worked great without restricting flow. I found their 90 degree Elbow fittings on either end of a multi-filter setup with straight 3/8"NPT male fittings x 3/8"male male fittings in between are perfect. Use of good quality sealing tape is highly recommended. Fittings cost around $2 for 10 packs at HP or about $4-$4.50 each at the store A straight JG adapter with 3/8" OD pipe and 3/8" NPTF OD JG on the end can be used to go back to the regular braided stainless steel cord that my sink uses. It's easy to connect a JG tee with check valves and/or check valves to external water tanks. The 1/4" OD hose connector slows things down - the 3rd /8" OD works fine towering.
