I ordered this grinder because of the "Heavy Duty" label. We used to simply store our 12-ounce aluminum soda cans and 16-ounce plastic bottles (Pellegrino water) without crushing them, but with all the COVID issues, I wanted to store them more compactly and make fewer trips for recycling. The crusher arrived yesterday and using 3 bolts, washers and locknuts I bolted it securely to the metal shelf above where we have our bins. After only 6 bottles were crushed, the rubber mat on the bottom of the unit started to tear. After a few more bottles most of the rubber disappeared, cracked and fell off (see photo). But more importantly, I could find the block flexing even under the torque of crushing bottles or cans. You can see in the photos where there is metal-to-metal contact between the sliding part of the grinder and the fixed metal corners, causing the device to jam and scrape the paint. The photos were taken after only crushing 15 bottles and 20 cans on first use! It seems to me that the metal on the sliding part is too thin, causing it to yield too much under pressure. You can also see that there are several other places where there is metal to metal contact. The foam grip on the handle itself feels like it will crack after a few uses. I suspect if you only use this grinder for 1-5 cans a week it could last a year. But plastic bottles seem too big for this device, and everyday use for glasses also seems too big. I didn't read the previous reviews well enough before purchasing as I now see many other complaints about the same issues. Find a replacement now.
