Don't spend so much money on this piece of plastic.
Yes, the magnetic part is metal. The part that connects to the machine is made out of cheap plastic that won't last long. It doesn't connect well and doesn't allow you to customize the fabric in the way its great fame might suggest. SO glad I was able to return it.
