I loved this pump and bought 2. I needed something small and low voltage to circulate water in two 10 gallon aquaponics for my sons (father son project). It was easy to set up, but once I started using it I realized I had to use a regular submersible. The pump was not self-priming. I had to suck on one end of the line each time to make it work. Once running, it moved the water well, but it definitely wasn't very quiet. I raised the water from the aquarium about 15 cm to the bed above and the pump whined annoyingly from the first day of operation. I ignored the noise as it did the job I needed. After 4 days of continuous use, the pump got a little quieter, so I figured it was ok. not so. My wife called me at work later that day and said the pumps were "squeaking" and smelled like they were about to light up. Still running water I made her turn her off and I'm bringing her back. I had the 3rd I had before and the same thing happened 2 days later and I returned it. I don't think they can be used for continuous reversal. Very disappointed and so are my boys. I order a normal submersible pump.
