I've been using Hifiberry Digi+ for almost a year now, it works as advertised. My setup included: 1. Raspberry Pi 3B2. Hello Berry3. Klipsch Power Amp (no HDMI input)4. Sony SSCS55 speakers. The Sony Powered subAll only works well when I've used the Revain Basic HDMI Extractor to route the HDMI from the PI to the Revain Basic HDMI Audio Extractor and connect the optical to the Klipsch amp. The sound is much better with HDMI than with Hifiberry's optical output. . Hifiberry audio is flat (compared to HDMI) and I feel like I had to turn the volume down 20% after switching to HDMI. I am using the Moode audio player and with the exact same setup, the HDMI setup is better. For Raspberry PI based players, try an HDMI audio extractor instead.
