PROBLEM: I had problems starting one morning. My car started, then stalled and made several attempts to start. I also noticed that the car got stuck under hard acceleration. Later that day, code p0171 appeared on the dashboard. TRIAL AND ERROR PROCEDUR: Since I have little experience with cars, my first choice was just trial and error. Several problems can cause a p0171 code. I started by testing the induction vacuum with an electric vape and blowing into the brake booster hose. no smoke emission. I then disconnected the main O2 sensor. worked very poorly (probably not a bad O2 sensor). After that, only a tank problem remained due to low fuel pressure or defective injectors. I wanted to check the fuel pressure, but a fuel pressure gauge costs about the same as this fuel pump, so I just pulled the trigger. INSTALLATION: I just installed this fuel pump today and so far so good. The fuel pump was a perfect fit and EXACTLY the same size and type as the OEM (no cutting/soldering required). Fuel filters are not the same as the factory filters. I would recommend looking at the year and model of the filter for your vehicle. It was a pretty easy install and saved me about $300 which the dealer showed me.
