Installing in MB Sprinter

Spent the day installing it in my Sprinter based motorhome. There is no free space on the dash so I had to make something out of 3/8" plastic to fit the top center of the dash. The first problem inherent in the unit was that it shorted out so short on the voltmeter that the 3/8 inch back (plus face) wouldn't let the screw grab. It should be applicable for maritime use. I've never seen a boat dashboard smaller than 1/2 inch. I'm hoping to hear a workaround from the supplier as I don't want to glue them in place as I think that's the most likely component to break. Powering this bay was also a challenge. Now, thanks to my granddaughter's thin hands, I have the power. 3 fuses blew when plugged in. The lack of a schematic sucks, but I'm reasonably sure it matches the one provided. One of the components seems to cross the negative and the positive. Tomorrow I will diagnose or return on Wednesday. OK, finally it works. I changed the main fuse to a 20A bar. and soldered after soldering all the ends and pigtails. Too bad they didn't have a support group to give me advice on how to get around that ridiculously short voltmeter.
