Cheap enough to ignore problems

A selling feature of this item is customization. I didn't need a cigarette lighter and needed a second switch so I bought two of these items to get an extra switch. A pretty cool option for a Switch, but when the price of the base unit is that cheap, it's fine. Overall, this product appears to be a marketing baby, relying on the buyer to put the pieces together into something usable. As a work tool, it leaves a lot to be desired. The rear connectors are clearly marked + and -, so I don't understand other people's complaints!

I installed this on the side of the plastic ammo box to provide a "power supply". In the ammo box I installed two SLA 12VDC 7Ah batteries that are fully charged by two* external solar panels. The 12V batteries are then ready to charge any 12V or 5V DC devices such as iPhones, iPads and even USB powered chargers for rechargeable AA and AAA batteries (which are then used in flashlights, radios etc ) to supply power. d.). Installing in MB Sprinter

Spent the day installing it in my Sprinter based motorhome. There is no free space on the dash so I had to make something out of 3/8" plastic to fit the top center of the dash. The first problem inherent in the unit was that it shorted out so short on the voltmeter that the 3/8 inch back (plus face) wouldn't let the screw grab. It should be applicable for maritime use. I've never seen a boat dashboard smaller than 1/2 inch. I'm hoping to hear a workaround from the supplier as I don't want to…
