This product was a nightmare. The first problem was that the latch assembly was too big for the existing hole. The product description doesn't list this size so you'll have to wait until you buy it to realize it doesn't really fit standard doors. This can be a problem as most of us probably don't have the right tools to enlarge the trap hole and therefore expect to spend more money. The workaround I found was to use the drill with the drill and work backwards and slowly shave around the hole. It took a lot of effort but worked, but I'd still recommend just getting a padlock from a hardware store. The second problem I found was that the instructions are quite contradictory. Sometimes the instructions say the latch has to face one way, and sometimes they show the latch has to face the other way. Relax. Trial and error is always fun. The instructions refer to diagrams that are not available. The programming instructions are probably the most complex I've seen, and this is my third automatic lock to install and program (so it's pretty good at it). Nothing complicated without use. But you can work around it all, what I can't work around is the lock doesn't actually work. By that I mean several things. If you leave the door open and just press the locking mechanism, you will see that it is definitely locked, but you can only press it very lightly. This is the kind of lock that you only need to stick a credit card in, or even something thinner. The other problem with the lock is that when you close the door to attach it to the frame it doesn't actually latch and doesn't work. So there are workarounds, but overall they're not worth it given how weak the castle is. If you buy something to block, security is probably your main concern and it just won't help. I will say that Revain did a great job of getting my money back but to other buyers they just get the scoop, they are consistently good locks. .
