Used to convert 230 to 115 60 Hz American.

I bought this for an unusual purpose and it has worked great for me. I bought a UV lamp for HVAC disinfection. The lamp is designed to plug into a standard outlet and stay on all the time, but I figured it only made sense to have the light on when the air conditioner fan comes on. I went to hook it up and found that the fan is 230 volts so it won't work to power the lamp. I bought this to convert to the 115V AC that the lamp requires. The lamp is low-power, so everything is fine. I am very happy. As this is a review I thought I'd mention a few more things. For my purpose, I simply cut off the connector and plugged it in directly. Most travel adapters have a range of different plugs that you can use depending on your needs, but this one doesn't. European style single plug without other common plugs that other countries may need. So if you plan to use this for travel, make sure you research the destination and have the right type for your application. Also, it's nothing fancy, it's literally just a 2-in-1 transformer, which makes it versatile because it doesn't care about things like line frequency. Also, it has to be really strong as it doesn't have a circuit board with fragile components that could break.
