WHEN I PURCHASED THESE they were just over $25 a pair and they were VERY worth that price. Now that they are in their 40's I would still say the price is fair but be aware these are CHEAP tires. You don't win races on them and you don't fly in turns glued to the road. I've been running these tires on my junk bike for 7 months now. It was a fairly light usage situation - I rode this bike an average of four miles a day, five days a week, which works out to about 560 miles on these tires. Given the price, I don't expect much from these tires. The tread pattern is practically useless and wears out quickly and you'll slip on wet roads if you're not careful. The tire material (is it real rubber? Could it be at this price point?) doesn't feel particularly grippy. Overall, the tire feels a bit flimsy. If you want amazing road surfaces that you can count on to hold you tight in turns, look elsewhere. If you're looking for awesome road treads that shed water and keep you on the road better in the rain, look elsewhere. If you're looking for cheap tires that perform surprisingly well for the price, read on. These tires just work, man. That defies all logic. I've ridden them in wet, dry and even gravel (not recommended at all) and while they're nothing fancy, they're great for basic commuting (if you treat your bike like a "last mile" vehicle, for example). .โ) and in this context I find almost no flaws in it. I don't race or anything like that. With normal daily use, they stick to the ground more than tolerably and the grip does not suffer too much over time. Again, the tread pattern fades quickly, but I didn't notice any difference in the wet. Even new, they feel like slicks. The tire sidewalls are a bit thin. But mine isn't pierced yet, and I can't dodge branches and other hard organic debris. I haven't driven through glass with these tires, but I'm sure they puncture easily. They appear to be a bit thicker in the center where the tread is. Maybe that will help. I've ridden, jumped or otherwise bumps and curbs and they haven't popped yet. I keep them at the recommended 95psi; they feel like they can deal with it more easily, but I won't risk it. Your miles may vary. As for the fit, the wire bead feels a bit tight. I have a harder time mounting/removing them on 700c wheels than some other tires, but that's no cry. That is absolutely doable. So is a pair worth $42? May be. You are not bad. Are they worth the $25 I paid for them? Absolutely. There are few (if any) tires in this price range that I would call "good". But these are a little different. They exceeded my expectations (which were very low) in every way. I don't regret buying them at all. I was just checking out Zol and apparently they mainly make glasses. What the hell? In any case, don't expect too much from these cheap, crappy tires and you'll be very pleased.
