I was afraid the lid would take away the beauty

My 6.6 gallon chi tank has livebearers. In the past other aquariums have had some of my livebearers jumping, so I wanted to cover this tank with a lid to keep the fish safe. I was afraid the lid would detract from the natural beauty of this aquarium. I used the aquarium without a lid for several months and the fish never jumped. However, I was very unhappy with the amount of splatter and fumes that came without the lid. The spatter was my fault. I don't like using the rock basket on top of the filter cube to hold the rocks. The stones look great in the basket, but I prefer the stones at the very top of the filter cube. Not using the stone basket leads to splashes and "noise". I like the "noise". To me it looks like a small waterfall. My husband thinks it's too loud. Placing stones in a basket on top of a filter cube will muffle "noise" and stop splashing, but will not slow evaporation. I changed the evaporation water daily. So I decided to order a lid to slow down the evaporation I was experiencing. Since using the case I have been very pleased with the drastic reduction in evaporation. Also, I don't get all the splatters on the furniture even if I don't use a stone basket on the filter cube. I'm happy. I have my own "noise", no splashes and less exhaust fumes. In addition, the aquarium still looks beautiful. I wash the lid every week to keep it looking good.
