I was really trying to love this product but after almost losing my surfboards on the freeway I decided it was worth investing in a roof rack and tie down straps. First use took about 40 minutes to load and bind a single board. I was expecting it to take a little longer while acclimating, but definitely not that long. Ultimately, the bindings were extremely difficult to tighten. When I finally had confidence in the safety of the boards on the car (no slack lines etc.) and drove away, the boards seemed to move a bit, prompting me to stop 4 times (very nervously) to check them on my way. 35 minutes drive. Same situation on the way home. After a dozen uses I whittled the tying process down to 15-20 minutes, but by this point the hook clasps had scratched my car a few times when I tried to tighten the straps and I was just over it. While I understand the appeal of a safer, more economical alternative to a roof rack, the time it took me to charge and wear my car through each charge wasn't worth my savings (especially after nearly losing my board).
