Avoided for a long time due to reviews. I've been trying to fit the 3800x into a 1U box with a couple of different Dynatron heatsinks, one passive and one active. By no means was the noise level in my house acceptable, especially since I had a lower powered chip to try and reduce the heat. Put this bad guy and the same hardware in a 2U case, reset the default BIOS for the CPU. Tensions and levels, and everything is perfect. It can get a bit noisy here and there during the summer heat, but I have it in a fairly full and closed rack with some mesh. In an ordinary rack with good airflow, I don't think anyone will notice this.
