Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Granit X-Plus 540 U Lock by Abus by Randy Bin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great lock - misleading/bulky advertised selling point

The lock itself is secure but don't believe me as there are tons of reviews online that have done many tests showing it's in place with Kryptonite Fahgettabudit. Plus, the large frame mount it comes with. Now the reason for Star Docking - and that goes for any Abus lock that advertises getting matching keys to your locks. First, locks that advertise that they can be matched with other locks do not make it clear that there are two different key levels and they cannot be matched with each other. Xplus locks can only be combined with other Xplus locks and YourPlus with Yourplus. It doesn't matter much on its own, and I understand that their higher end locks (like this product) use a better lock/key, but that means you don't match it to your e-bike's battery lock be able . Secondly, and a much more serious problem, in order to get the right lock/key you need to: - buy the first lock and remove the code from the key - find a store that will make an order for you in Abus (there There is no way to do this via Revain and many other online shops) - I hope the shop making this knows how to do it. I called 2 bike shops that have Abus and it took a couple of people in each shop to determine if it was possible and then they asked how to do it. When they finally found someone who knew about it, he let me know. that Abus took 4.5 months to deliver the lock to the store (this might be slowed down due to COVID but he said that even before COVID it took 2 months or more). - If you decide to go further, you have to pay 20% more than the suggested retail price (so you take an expensive padlock that you could probably find cheaper than the suggested retail price, pay the suggested retail price for it and then add another 20 % It's nice that Abus offers a program of matching keys, but when the process is so cumbersome (months to get you a lock) and costly (buying this lock again makes me pay 85% more, than I paid for); it's probably easier for most to carry an extra key. If you're a buyer of this type of lock and need an extra lock to match, you probably don't want to wait months for that lock. As for adding/ As far as replacing keys is concerned, I've heard that the process is similar when it comes to replacing it through an authorized one Ordering from a dealer, paying a pretty hefty fee, and then waiting weeks or months for it to arrive, but at least I see a use case when it can be appropriate.
