I used this sharpening stone to restore an anvil that was in pretty bad, if not bad, condition. I removed about 40,000 inches from most of the surface, taking my time and checking the level. It came out very straight and even, and after working with the serrated washer and belt sander it looked like I'd taken it to the machine shop to be sharpened. The conical shape of the grinder contributes significantly to the even material removal. As the dents, chunks, and rust began to fade, it became easier and easier to get a true, flat surface. Today I looked at the grinding bowl while putting it away and noticed that there was almost no crockery on it. I haven't measured it but it looks like it has never been used and has actually been used for over an hour. If you need to decorate a heavy metal surface I recommend this to make the most of the hard work.
