So this is my second punch of this model that I am buying as my first one broke after many months of hard use. I can say that I got my money's worth the first time. So I decided to buy a second one to replace the broken first one. You can tell right away that the head was misaligned and just felt cheap. I tried punching holes but the material didn't go all the way through. He would have hit midway but not in the second half. Very frustrating. I had to punch the rest of the hole through the other side of the material to make the hole. The problem is that the punch doesn't sit flat on the brass plate, so it can't punch through all the material. After playing around with it for a while, I was able to make a few notches in the plate to get the hole head to flatten it out with just a little effort and now it seems to be working. But I can honestly say that it seems to me that it will break soon. I think that's what you get for under $10. I'd pay up to $30 for one that seemed reliable and worked right out of the box.
