Review on ๐Ÿฆ‹ Optimized Ultra Spring Door Closer with Butterfly Spring (68405) by Joel Norfork

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Why didn't I think of that sooner?

Hooray! Problem solved! In my home, a closed basement door is vital as I need to keep my beloved dog out of the basement where my beloved cat lives. (Don't worry cat lover, she's well taken care of and happy camping.) Unfortunately, basements tend to lug big arms full of stuff in and out, which means I need something - then walk in the door and get it despite the arm full of things immediately behind me. And when I go down, that means I do it balancing on the top step. It's a miracle we all survived. After three years it finally occurred to me that maybe there could be some kind of device that would automatically close the door. TA Dah! For $5 and change, this thing saved at least two lives (three considering that if I fall down the stairs and break my neck, the dog will probably starve to death a few days after eating the cat). Okay, now for a handy tip: As some reviewers have pointed out, spreading your wings wide enough is no easy task. Here's what I did: I pulled the hinge pin all the way out, then spread the wings just enough so that one was resting on the door and the other on the frame, with the coil just over the top of the hinge. I then used my hand base to push the spool toward the hinge, causing the wings to expand further, and once the spool was directly over the hinge, I pushed the hinge pin through the spool and back into the hinge with my other hand. Went like clockwork. I can't tell you how amazing it is to be able to walk through that door and dutifully have it shut behind me. I was afraid it would slam, but it's just a nice tight clasp. Hooray!
