Poor quality and design.

Poor quality and design. A blue LED bar graph for relative sound power might be a good idea BUT...they are blindingly bright even in a brightly lit room; in the dark when watching TV and for TV sound with external speakers. ...well, they're so blindingly bright that they completely distract from the show. We tested this amp with a Hewlett-Packard function generator, a General Radio Audio power and distortion meter, and viewed the output signals on a Tektronix oscilloscope . It only puts out about 30% of its "75 watts" rating when viewed in true RMS power, and it's at maximum volume, where it distorts heavily. Input no matter where the volume control is set - you need to be more than 2.5m from the speakers to not notice the hum (in a quiet room). w/1M) and if the volume is set low enough that it doesn't fall within the distortion range, then and only then does this amp even become "audible". Oh, and the IR remote doesn't work in my tiny 8" x 10" living room - I would have to get up and be within 4ft of the amp for the remote to work (and then only if carefully aimed) . ) so with their help I could go one step further and set the thing up by hand. Overall, I was VERY sorry I wasted my money on this, it's complete rubbish. I had trouble selling it at the $25 yard sale; finally, on the third and final day of the sale, I "gave" it for $10, and honestly felt sorry for the person I "ripped off" by selling it to him for $10.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Security
