Review on πŸš— Timken 513123 Axle Bearing and Hub Assembly: Enhanced Performance and Reliability for Your Vehicle by Paul Evangelista

Tone ring issues Good for bridges and heavy duty parts

I've been told to stay away from cheap bearings and try to get a Timken bearing assembly. The seller indicated that Timken may be using a different brand of bearing and it was an SKF bearing. I didn't have any problems on the left side, but I did have problems on the right side. Didn't notice until I was driving the car, noticed a noise coming from the front right. The problem is that the new bearing on the back of the CV axle is tapered and doesn't have a shoulder on the bearing like the original bearing. This caused the axle to go further in and the tone ring caught in the hub assembly mounting bolts. This also causes the ABS to be far away and the ABS light to come on. Upon reading the code it said the sensor was defective. I had to install some machine washers between the CV axle and the back of the hub assembly to bring the tone ring closer to the center of the car. This realigned the sensor with the tone ring and the ABS light went out.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Good but not great
