If you're like me, the guy who has never held a needle in his life, this set is awful. (I can't even sew on a button.) Aida is too skinny, making YouTube videos impossible for beginners. It is impossible to count the very narrow and tiny holes in the fabric that have to be made. And believe me you need to watch the youtube video because the instructions that come with it are terrible. These are instructions for tying several different knots, not cross stitch. You completely forgot how to do real cross stitches! It can be called a set of knots for beginners. That's all I did - nowhere - with this starter kit. These are just beginners if you have sewn and embroidered before. I'll keep this set for later use, but will put it aside for now and buy a set that's really for beginners. It's terrible for real beginners. Honestly, they can't even be called a beginner's set. I can't cross stitch anything with her! Now it's a waste.
