Review on High-Performance Gates TCK282 PowerGrip Premium Timing Belt Component Kit: Engine Efficiency and Durability by Brett Jarvis

5 stars but read my review!

Installed this Gates kit on my sister's Hyundai Accent 08 with 69,000 miles. 38 dollars. Seems too cheap! It appears to be a quality belt, but I think the original belt is even better compared to a new one. But for money. You can't go wrong. The kit installs easily (simply carefully align the crank and cam marks to the indicated locations and double check. However, in hindsight and after a very thorough inspection of the almost 7 year old original belt I would recommend the OEM belt to 90,000 miles left there or 9 years It was in PERFECT condition Flexible nothing other than the new Gates belt depending on condition! If you don't ride very hard/very fast or most only do short rides or in extreme cold or Living in hot temperatures I would NOT replace at 60,000 miles.I have also carefully checked the crank and camshaft seals and water pump drain and there are NO signs of leaks/leaks so I left them in place (liquid!) and instead the timing belt kit, the gaskets and replace the water pump at 90,000/9 years and then every 60,000 if you use spare parts.First owner.and you up to Document ALL service (and only use OEM parts you must do at 60k or you will void your 10/100k transmission warranty (first owner only). I also drained and refilled with 50/50 Longlife Coolant Premix. If you are not using a premix, make sure you only use DISTILLED water when mixing with regular long life coolant. That pays off in the long run.
