I built new ball joints for my 2002 Ford F-350 4x4 7.3L diesel. My stock on the drivers side. Of course while I was there it made sense to redo both hub bearings (since the passenger bearing is probably not far behind) and be done with that. Too much work on the ball joint to try to put it all back together only to partially take it apart again in the relatively near future. I did some reading and found these Timken 515020 wheel bearing and hub assemblies as recommended in the main article. I used http://www.superdutypsd.com/ball_joint_article.php to work with ball joints. After reading a little more, it turned out that Timken offers a great quality product and they weren't guaranteed to use Ford's much more expensive OEM unit ($200/unit vs. $400/unit plus FREE Revain Prime shipping!) at arriving was the new Timken units appear to be great components. Packaging, fit and finish were excellent. Some of the other reviews pointed out the inconsistent inclusion of detail, but I didn't have that issue. Both of my assemblies came with the bearing assembly itself; a pre-installed internal needle bearing (I wasn't sure based on the picture and the rather poor description); 4 studs that go into the steering knuckle (separate - you'll have to install it yourself); 8 pre-assembled wheel bolts M14 x 2.0 (confirmed by thread gauge); new yellow hub O-ring, ABS sensor, cables and associated hardware. see drawing. These assemblies are ready to use except the inner needle bearing is not lubricated. So be sure to use a good quality wheel bearing grease, squeeze it into all the needles, swirl it around and squish everything in there. The only other tip/complaint I have is that the plastic clip on the ABS wire broke in transit. The wire on this one was not twisted and secured like on the other, allowing it to float around the box, and the mounting bearing itself broke it. I was a little upset about this, but this is where the advice comes in handy. Be sure to save the clips from the old mounting bearings - mine were in pretty good condition and they are easy to swap from old to new. I closed everything. no problem last night. Overall very happy with these components.
