Review on πŸŒͺ️ Oneida Air Systems Super Dust Deputy Deluxe β€” 4-Inch by Joe Taniguchi

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The lid is unfinished and falls through, the plastic is not hard enough.

I originally used this product with the Harbor Freight dust bag that goes with my planer, planer and table saw. The barrel's small size and lack of a viewing window made it very awkward to use, and difficult to tell when it was full. Due to the thin lip on the barrel with the thin plastic mount and guard combined with the metal retaining ring, the barrel was very difficult to empty, align and lock properly. As a solution to this problem, I added a Lexan window on the side of the keg to see when it's filling and moved the entire system around for use with my smaller machines. I then hooked it up to a 5hp Ridgid Shop Vac vacuum. and I wanted to be able to use it with my band saw, chop saw and grinders due to their smaller port sizes. When hooked up to the saws it works fine as they are unable to increase the vacuum stress on the lid. When I hooked it up to my grinders, there was a problem. When connected to a 6" random orbit sander, the entire distributor cover falls inwards, breaking the seal and dragging it down the barrel. The limited blade overlap on the barrel is ill thought out and there is no way to alternatively mount the cap onto something stiffer to keep it from striking. Considering the amount of money spent, this shouldn't be an issue to contend with. If I had to do it all over again I would still choose the 4" system because when it works it works great but I would buy a regular 4" dust cap with mounting holes and work on it, my own bin and to find the lid. I'm stuck with the system for now, I need to spend more money developing a fix to make it work as intended. I give this system 2 stars overall, it works but all the dust. The info replacement says to use a container rigid enough that the container doesn't collapse and work properly. This should also apply to the cyclone/lid combo they sell you.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Some bugs
