Many options and settings

This is not the first rear view camera that I have bought. I bought another company's unit on Amazon and it broke within a few weeks. I tried it based on the reviews and overall I'm very satisfied. I really like the large 7 inch screen. The camera I bought earlier was considered "low light". This one is infrared. In my experience, this infrared camera works better at night. Not only is the camera infrared, but it also has its own infrared light, which really helps you see better when you're reversing at night. The screen goes black and white in infrared, but the image is much sharper and you can see much further behind your car than with the "low light" camera I had before. The image on the monitor was clear and bright, there were controls for brightness, contrast and color, as well as the ability to mirror the image on the screen. I was surprised how little the screen weighs. It didn't seem very difficult, but I don't think I intend to move it much. Of course in the event of an accident it would be better if the screen was light, you don't want a heavy screen to come loose and fly over your cockpit if you have an accident but I'm not sure it will withstand the strong physical Abuse, but I never bother to move it. The device came with lots of cables which were a bit confusing to connect but I was able to figure it out. There were very small "+" and "-" symbols on the power connector, it almost took me a magnifying glass to see them, but they're there if you look for them. Part of the cabling is redundant. You get additional connections (connection to the cigarette lighter, fuse box or reversing light, etc.) and only use the cables or plugs that you need. I installed this camera on a 2012 Nissan Frontier. This meant I had to route the cables under the truck where they could get wet and rub against sharp edges. To protect the cables from wear and tear I used "Split Wire Tubes" which I also bought from Amazon and routed them inside the tubes. To protect the connectors from water I used "Coax Sealing Kitt" as I use for outdoor TV antennas. There is a handy switch on the cable to the camera that allows you to turn the reverse guide lines on and off and adjust their width or position. This switch is next to the camera and ended up under the back of the truck. I was a bit concerned it would get wet so I taped it in case it wasn't a waterproof switch. Overall, this device is much more usable than the other company's device I sent back and has a lot of customization options. Particularities. It also had a much longer cord that ran to the back of my truck. Even though I have a long cab, medium bed truck, I still had a lot of cables left over. This device allows the connection of a second camera. I think I'll try to add a blind spot camera for my truck as a second camera. One more thing: I emailed the company about the second camera and they responded to the email very quickly, at least for me. That's a good sign. That's a great start. Let's see how it holds up over time.
