Review on Sceptre C248B 144RN: Edge Less FreeSync DisplayPort, Curved Screen, 165Hz, Built-In Speakers, Frameless Design, Blue Light Filter – LED Monitor by Jerry Clayton

Good inexpensive gaming monitor.

I waited a while to review it as I wanted to make sure it would hold up. It was bought for our first gaming PC. Pretty happy. I don't compare it to more expensive 144hz monitors as this is my first monitor but it looks great and I think it's reasonable enough for the price. The stand could be bigger or better shaped. It doesn't wobble, seems solid, but I'm afraid I won't accidentally knock it over. It feels like it's too heavy for a stand design. I was pretty sure we broke the screen the first time we installed it because it fell face first on the table when we put it back in place. Thankfully the screen wasn't damaged, but it would have been a lot safer with a better stand or wall mount. .Overall it was great for both our PC and PS4. I love that we can use the monitor with a PC connected to Displayport and a PS4 connected to HDMI and we can easily switch back and forth without having to unplug anything. Just a tip, if you want 144hz you need to change it in the settings. . Everything was preset to 60 Hz when initially set up. It seems that what I've gathered on Google is often overlooked, so I'm just adding it here to help.

Pros
  • Anti-Flicker Provides a clearer picture by preventing the backlight from flickering intermittently.
Cons
  • Bad ergonomics.
