I'm updating my review from a few months ago. My first rating was a *** 3 star rating. (Subtract 1 star for a failed adjustment, 1 star for incomplete assembly, and 1 star for poor instructions that came with the alkaline filter assembly.) You know, I'm not sure I've ever gone back and stars added the review. took a few away. :-)NO. The seller did not contact me and NO, the seller did not send me free stuff to get me to "update" my rating. This was prompted by wanting to order additional 1st stage filters and not being able to remember the specifics of the part. Then I realized how HAPPY I am with the device and HOW PLEASED I look forward to every time I get a glass of water. HERE IS MY UPDATE. :-) After a rocky start and some quality control issues, I can honestly say I'm delighted with my reverse osmosis system. After all "bugs" were removed from the system, it produced a large volume of pure water that is pleasant to drink. The included reverse osmosis faucet is easy to use and has no leaks, drips or other problems associated with "turned on" appliances. I am keeping an eye on the 1st stage tinted/clear filter and plan to replace the 1st filter in a few months. The rest of the system works perfectly. In honor of my interim test results, I'm adding 2 stars to my original rating. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS DEVICE! WORKS flawlessly from the moment of installation. ALSO. PLEASE PLEASE do not install the unit under a sink. YOU will hate this filter change time. Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistakes. Install it anywhere with EASY ACCESS! Above a sink with a mop, in the basement next to a water meter or well pump. Working under the sink is a shame, dark and cramped. No wonder so many installers have a "cracking" problem. LAUGH OUT LOUD . For those who might be offended by my suggestion that plumbers have a drug problem. NO. It's that awkward moment when your pants fall down when you bend over and expose your ass. (It sucks when you have to explain your jokes). However. Remember that installation is just the beginning. Just like a car, it needs maintenance. ALSO. It is advisable to invest in some additional check valves in the line. Makes it easier to disconnect and isolate the power unit from the hydraulic tank and supply lines. It's also a good idea to have an extra tee and valve so you can relieve any residual pressure in the system before changing the filter. I hope that was helpful. _______________________________________________________ This is not my first reverse osmosis system, so I was very familiar with the installation and start-up. Overall the quality of the system seems good and overall the installation was an easy process. Main problem: I encountered a faulty fitting that kept dripping when the system was pressurized. Since one of the last expansion stages involved a screw fitting, I was only able to use the system after I had replaced the defective part. (The parts I had to replace are shown in the second image, circled in red and highlighted in yellow). Draining the system after it has been pressurized is cumbersome. INSTALLATION: I chose to install the system in the basement for easy access and installation. I will honestly never understand why anyone would choose an under counter installation. All you need is access to water mains and access to a drain line, and you have everything you need to install a reverse osmosis system. If you don't like crawling in tight, dark places, I suggest a remote install along the way. Note. Please note that this kit does not include enough hoses for the water and drain lines, so you will need to purchase them separately. Also keep in mind that you will most likely need to purchase an ice maker kit as this kit does not include a self draining faucet to connect to your existing cold water line. Overall, the build quality of this kit is good. I chose a "mineralization cartridge" kit that came unassembled and came with no instructions. This was a bit of a surprise and an inconvenience. (This is the filter with the red lines on the top of the unit.) I would advise not following the manufacturer's starting instructions as it recommends draining about 10 gallons through the system on startup. I recommend you fill and flush 3 large filters separately when you start. I disconnected the outlet line from the 3rd filter and dumped the product into a 5 gallon pail which was placed in the doctor blade pan. Once I had run about 5 gallons through these filters I reconnected the line and flushed the reverse osmosis filter and the 2 other filters disconnected their outlet line again and dumped them straight into the bucket in the mop. These activated carbon filters produce a lot of grey-colored water on the first flush. As soon as the water clears, you can start. My method also eliminates heavy system pollution at startup. Another consideration: If you have a modern refrigerator, you might want to consider a separate storage tank and booster pump. That was the only way an acceptable amount of water got to the door. So overall build quality is good, build and test is a bit lacking, and overall additional parts may be required depending on the setup. The water quality is good. , approx. 20 ppm with installed mineral filter. Approximately 8 parts per million excl.
