Much better than the Gates belt

The alternator on my 2009 GMC Sierra 5.3L was replaced about a month and a half ago. When I had it replaced at a Goodyear Service Center, the belt was replaced as well. Ironically, Goodyear replaced my belt with a Gates strap. I'm surprised they don't use their own great product in their stores. Anyway, within a month or less I had a creaking noise only on a cold engine start. Disappeared 2-3 minutes after starting the engine. After replacing the idler pulley, AC belt (needed to be replaced anyway) and returning the truck to Goodyear to check the pulley alignment, the squeaking continued. I finally decided to replace the nearly new Gates belt myself because I no longer trusted the good people at my local Goodyear store. They seriously tried to convince me that the creaking was because it was damp outside or because I was parked under the trees. Reiiiit. I love it when car mechanics try to insult your intellect. Long story short, they didn't want to give a $20 belt guarantee and they scratched my new idler pulley for no reason. In the end, installing this new belt eliminated the creaking. I even put my old idler pulley in (since Goodyear ruined my new one and I didn't want the worn out pulley ruining the new belt) and it no longer makes cold start noise. Hope the belt holds up. It was also noticeably tighter than Gates' belt. I suspect the Gates belt was defective or out of spec. I will update if anything goes wrong with the strap.
