I bought this trowel and a Robinair 18403 trowel to flatten the fins on my 20 year old RV air conditioner. About 30% of all fins have been bent by hail over the years. My finned capacitor measures about 12" x 24". First, it's not a miracle tool. It takes time and effort to get a job done. Second, severely curved slats are not straightened. Finally, these combs are disposable as they wear out very quickly. If you order the Allstar ALL10680 Radiator Flange Kit only use it on the edges when needed as it wears out fairly quickly. I recommend purchasing a Robinair 18403 fin straightener to complement this tool. The Robinair 18403 fin smoother is a much stronger tool, but it does not reach the edges of the fins due to the supports on the edges of the condenser fins. able to straighten 75% of curved slats. The remaining 25% of the bent parts could not be straightened because they were bent too much. When I finished, both tools were completely worn out. Now my air conditioning works much better. I spent about $26 between the two tools - way less than the cooler store. I would not recommend a metal comb. It can be so aggressive that it can cause unintentional damage or (even worse) puncture the hose.
