As previously mentioned, the brackets are not properly bent. It only took me a few minutes to change them in a desktop vise. The most important thing to know is that they are NOT designed for 2x4 lumber (1.5" x 3.5"). When attaching to a 2x4, two major design flaws become apparent: 1) The hole pattern is too close to the corner. The inner bolts are too close to the corner.2) The inner nuts interfere with each other. To fix this, the holes in the corner MUST be countersunk. 3) The hexagon heads of the screws and nuts are rounded, so a 12-point head cannot be used. Only a hex head can be used with these screws. (What a pain!) Check out the attached photos to better see these design flaws and how to work around them. In general they were difficult to install but they seem to work fine.
