I spent a lot of time researching USB 3.0 hubs before I bought this one from D-Link. I like the fact that it has a 4 amp power supply and delivers 900mA per port. I wanted to use this with my new MacBook Pro with Retina display but it has a couple of issues that make it unusable. The first thing I noticed was that my Logitech M510 wireless mouse was freezing. The wireless keyboard seems to work, but I wasn't typing much when trying to get the hub to work, so I don't know if there are any performance issues. I never had a problem with my old USB 2 hub (Macbooks have USB 3.0 ports.) I plugged a Logitech wireless receiver into one of the USB 3.0 ports on the MacBook and that seemed to fix the mouse problem. Apparently the D-Link hub is not compatible with Logitech wireless products. The next problem occurred when I closed the lid on my MacBook and put it to sleep. When I opened the lid, any external drives connected to the D-Link hub would not turn off properly and I had to unplug and then plug them back in. I've tried this several times and the results have always been the same. I've looked at other Revain reviews and checked the D-Link website to see if a firmware update is available. D-Link does not have firmware or drivers for the hub. I checked the Via VL810 website mentioned in another review, but the update only works on Windows. This will not help Apple users. I am returning the hub and contacting Apple and Logitech to see if they can recommend hubs that are compatible with their hardware. If anyone is using a new MacBook Pro and has had luck with a USB 3.0 hub, please respond to this review and let me know what you use. The same request applies to users of Logitech wireless products on USB 3.0 hubs. Update: Since posting this review, I've been researching more about other USB 3.0 hubs used on MacBooks running Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Apple seems to be having issues with their USB 3.0 ports, and USB 3.0 hubs have had the issues mentioned since the release of Mountain Lion. Other manufacturers have addressed this issue, stating that their USB 3.0 hubs work fine with pre-Mountain Lion versions of Mac OS X. Hopefully Apple will update their USB 3.0 and Mountain Lion ports to fix the issues. Logitech's USB receiver works great with the Mac's USB 3.0 port. It also works great when connected to a USB 2.0 hub connected to a Mac's USB 3.0 port. The issue occurs when the Logitech wireless receiver is connected to a USB 3.0 hub. I've found that other manufacturers are also having trouble connecting Logitech wireless receivers to their hubs. My solution is to connect a USB 2.0 hub to the Mac in addition to the USB 3.0 hub. Hard drive disconnect issues are still an issue that Apple will hopefully address. I've upgraded my original rating from one star to four as D-Link cannot be held responsible for issues that are clearly Apple related.
