Brass blade scrapers are much better than plastic blades but very hard to find. For light to medium ice build-up, you'll probably be surprised at how easy and clean this scraper works. It's as good as anything I've used. Plastic scrapers work less well when new and wear out quickly. The plastic edge wears away into a dull, jagged surface that tends to slide over ice rather than clearing it away. Unlike brass scrapers, they are irreversible. Once the edge wears off, it disappears and you need a new scraper. However, the motivation for my review is price related. By default, the unit purchase price of this scraper has changed over the past year, but was higher than it should have been. Look for non-Prime alternatives for 3, 6 and 12 packs. Also when it comes to shipping, everything is much cheaper for a scraper. Compared to the price of a single scraper, the 12-pack option currently costs you just over a dollar for each additional scraper. At this price we can pack a pair into any car, give a few away and have half a dozen extras for future needs. A few words about the scraper itself, mainly to answer questions asked in other reviews: - A narrow blade is actually ideal because it makes it easy to apply the right amount of pressure to scrape the ice. A wider blade makes the scraper more difficult to use. A narrow blade is also better suited to slightly curved glass surfaces - the blade cannot scratch the windshield. However, when using the scraper, dirt and dust from the glass can enter and scratch the glass. This applies to every scraper. The copper blade is apparently double-sided. This is actually an advantage as the slow natural wear of the blade tends to move evenly from side to side, allowing the blade to retain a fresh edge indefinitely. The blade can damage window trim or car paint more easily if you're not careful. Use reasonable care. The curved blade edges of this scraper are well designed to prevent damage of this type.- Very heavy ice build-up is difficult to remove with any scraper. The ice-breaker blades on the *back* of most plastic scrapers can help by slicing through the ice and making it easier to remove the debris. That's the only reason I would even use a plastic scraper today.
