If you're like me, you don't want to take your wife's Lexus IS250 to the dealer for a thousand-mile service only to find they want to charge you over $50. for a new air filter and its installation. Seriously, save money whenever you can. Instead, invest in a savings bond or buy lottery tickets. Just don't make the markups that dealers and (to a lesser extent independent mechanics) will give you for a simple service. You need to do simple things yourself, if only for the satisfaction that comes from doing it and the release of sweet, sweet endorphins. Do not be afraid. Replacing most air filters is as simple as cleaning debris out of the glove box, opening the sunroof, and swapping out the old for the new. A monkey with arthritis and a bad back can do it in three minutes or less. In terms of quality, it is in no way inferior to the original version. The only difference is that you save about $35 if you buy this and do it yourself.
