2009 Ford Expedition 4WD. The Expedition uses an interesting 4 inch pipe intake system similar to what you see in the picture here. But it has two tuned resonators to keep the noise down. Air Aid, on the other hand, does not. Noise can be an issue at 3/4 to full throttle, it's louder and buzzes under the hood. Conversely, the improvement in strength and power is nice, if not dramatic. the range is good. We haven't seen as much improvement as we did with our diesel upgrade. You get more power in the upper ranges, where the engine tends to soften a bit with the stock system. You also get a much nicer power curve across the rev range. I highly recommend an engine chip, which is illegal in some states so check your laws before installing, and a "cat's back" exhaust system to help it breathe. Fords seem to do a good job with this intake system. A: Some engine emissions in control systems can have problems with changing airflow and a code can be set in the OBD II system. Also, and very importantly, make sure that the mass air flow sensor of your intake system is not contaminated by outgassing from the filter. Some sensors get dirty and also set code. So far our expedition is satisfied. Many Mercedes Benz vehicles do not work well with an oily air filter. Always check this before installing, otherwise you may be stuck with a very expensive intake system that you cannot use. I'm not sure if you can return the hardware once you've opened and installed it. This particular installation was one of the easiest, taking only about half an hour without any rush. Be very careful to keep track of all the nuts and small screws. There is also a dam that goes on top of the airbox, recommended for the F 150 but also suitable for the Expedition. Conclusion: Recommended, especially with chip and exhaust as far as allowed. The system can also be noisy, but it's worth it if you can take it. My mileage increased about 3 miles per gallon on the city average. Your mileage may vary. I tend to ride somewhere between light feet and heavy feet. I have a 5.4 Triton engine. Adjustment and maintenance are always recommended. In dirty climates, the filter requires more frequent maintenance. Service kits are widely available and easy to use. We really like the intake system and I'm sure you will too.
