Review on Precision Router System Kreg PRS1045 by Tommy Abreu

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Packaging and Shipping Error

Considering this is a $500 table I'm going to be a bit critical. I leave this rating after sending a message to the seller, so I'll edit it after I get a reply from him. The order did not arrive with the fence mounted as per the option I chose and paid for, which means I now have to wait for that to make a decision. I'm not sure who puts the product in the outer shipping box, but what I've noticed is that Revain (supposedly) takes every box they've picked up lately to use as the outer shipping box, albeit he is too big. (A friend had the same problem when a huge box was used and a lot of things inside were damaged and a lot of my orders tend to come in ridiculously large outer boxes). The outer box was at least four times larger and no inner packaging material was used to stabilize the inner box of the product. This resulted in the inner carton being torn during shipping and parts being scattered everywhere. Three screws needed for assembly were missing (the screw pack was torn and the screws were in an outer box that was damaged even with holes) so I had to run to a hardware store to find replacement screws (which won't work for long). run) just so that I can mount it vertically. The leveling feet were damaged, their threads broken to pieces. This makes it difficult/unacceptable to unscrew nuts. I had to put in a few casters I had temporarily so I could install them and finish the build. Surprisingly, the main parts weren't scratched or dented in the process. The main table screws used by Kreg are not machined very well, about 1/3 of the threads are deburred. You should hand tighten and then use a square to keep the legs and runners square, but with burrs on the threads you'll need to use a tool to knock the nuts off. It worked in the end, but for $500 you would expect slightly better quality control on the screws. If it's a matter of saving money - Kreg: You can make them a little shorter to save on cost as they're a little longer which makes it difficult to use a nut to tighten an offset bolt/nut since it's underneath . Make them a little shorter to save money and improve threading. The final end pieces where the legs attach have slots to allow for height adjustment, which is nice. However, it would be useful if some form of height guide was added to the part. The table is a set height and without some sort of marking aid on the leg pieces you have no idea how tall the table will be now unless you measure the unit without those end legs and then measure where you installed the screws to to get an idea. Again, it would help for the price if the overall height of the stand was marked with a few lines to give you an idea of the height when installing those final pieces. The annoying thing is that changing the screws after everything is assembled is a hassle. On the plus side, it's a nice desk with easy-to-read and follow instructions. Not that much for $500 since the kit I bought for $497 didn't have rollers, a derailleur and a static plate. The image I posted includes the add-ons I purchased (power button and precision lifter). Aligning the plate is fairly easy as the instructions for setting the set screws 3/8" below the top are about 99.5% accurate. I used a 3/8" set-up block to set that height, huh made it easy. Asterisks are given due to unacceptable packaging, damage resulting in missing screws and inability to use leveling feet, and incomplete order (missing guardrail).Once I've replaced those bolts and legs and the fence arrives, I will probably increase the rating a bit.
