I needed to surface mount my chartplotter on my Sea Ray. I chose this unit because the image is attractive Items bot Required (plotter base included, flush mount, protective cap) What arrived met and exceeded my expectations Construction of this strong/thick and durable plastic The base and mount turned out to be larger than I expected which is a pleasant surprise. I wanted a solid base that could handle the weight and bulk of the GPS/fish finder, which would constantly stress the mount with vibration, wind resistance, etc. It will not bounce or fall out on its own It also has many slotted prongs to choose from so you can set the best angle everything suits your point of view This is especially good for me as it i installed out of place in my cockpit. My GPS had a square mount that didn't quite match Scotty's rectangular shape. But I easily solved this problem by simply cutting out a piece of nylon cutting board that had marks from my plotter and Scotty's pry bar. A small detail that didn't get in the way of the show; They did not include polyurethane gasket for the base. But it was easy enough to cure with a 100% marine silicone bead. Pros: - Large - Durable - Location slots - Tamper evident attachment - Security cap Cons: - No rubber gasket included
