This is a very attractive black kettle that looks great on my hob. However, I didn't choose him for his good looks. I chose him for his pipe. Like many in today's world, I have found that my attention span decreases with age. From time to time I forgot the pot on the stove and when I came back I found it with ashes on the floor where only the minerals in the water were left from the boiling water. While I love my little kettles, I realize that the loud reminder of something hot on the stovetop becomes more than just nice, it's a must. I'm not going to burn the house down, and the whistle this kettle emits will help me stay out of trouble. The kettle holds over a liter of water and the handle is made of bakelite, so you're less likely to burn yourself. I'm happy with this teapot and would highly recommend it for older users who may notice increased distractibility.
