So far so good with optical drives

Initial tests are looking good so it's only a matter of time. Optical drives are notorious for their short lifespans, but hopefully this one will hold up better. Works great with Verbatim media such as DVD-R and Roxio Secure Burn (not included but included). Not too loud or anything, it took 6 minutes to fill a 4.7GB drive. I like the dual cable option for USB-A or USB-C, and the build quality of the drive is good. Let's hope this lasts a few years. For those concerned about the requirements of two USB-A ports, it's perfectly fine to use a power extension cable (a USB port with a tiny cable, NOT a port with a thick, long cable) so you can get to the other side of the laptop. etc. you don't need two ports next to each other. I haven't tried burning discs on macOS yet, but the verified drive works great for reading discs on iMacs running the latest version of macOS (only appears when you insert a disc, and the physical eject button works on macOS does not drive, as you know and expected behavior).
