Windows may not recognize

We have several of these. The older version came with a detachable USB cable that plugs into two USB ports on your computer. This is for computers that are not providing enough power on one port. They seem to have switched to a single-plug USB cable in this release. I couldn't get Windows to recognize any of the three drives I just received. I assumed I would need a driver first but Verbatim claims no driver is needed and they don't have one on their website. Only after borrowing a cable with a double connector did Windows recognize the drive and install the driver. Strangely, after Windows installed the driver, the drive worked fine. If you don't already have a dual connector cable, you should look at another drive or try to buy one separately to use with this drive as it probably won't work without it. Also, the mini-USB connector needs to be longer than the standard connector, so good luck finding the right connector.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
