It helps. I added it to an old stereo in my workshop and it sounds great. This system was my main 90's stereo with a Harmon Kardon receiver, JBL speakers and a subwoofer. I brought it to my shop about fifteen years ago. Now I can easily listen to music and no longer obsess over old CDs, useless cassette decks and VCRs. A few notes that really helped me: 1) I have a stereo and this adapter is on the main switch which I unplug. when I leave the store. This also disconnects the adapter from my phone. I've read some complaints about having to make your phone "forget" this device because it's difficult to turn off the bluetooth connection. I just turn it off with the main switch and when I turn it back on it automatically connects to my phone's bluetooth. It's great for me. 2) This device is very small. I installed it behind the receiver (so you can't even see it) and it works great. I went up the stairs and it was still working fine. 3) It comes with a power adapter and a cable to connect to mini jack or RCA inputs. I really appreciated being able to use it right away without having to buy anything else. The only thing I don't know is how long it will last. I've purchased several Bluetooth receivers over the years with mixed results. Some never fail, some make mistakes. I have high hopes but only time will tell.
