I am very happy with my new 1600XXL. I think the radiation behavior is generally good. You can see it in the attached photo. It's wide enough for good peripheral vision, but I feel like it could be a bit high. I would have preferred the light to be a little more directed towards the ground rather than being perfectly symmetrical which illuminates the trees a little more than necessary. Yes, you can point it down, but that's not the same as a well-formed beam (think modern car headlights that illuminate the road and don't shine in the eyes of oncoming drivers). I love it. The device is configured via a free app. I used the Android version of LED Ally and set it up for mountain biking, ignoring the lower power levels available but keeping the flashing modes that I still wanted. With a full 1600 lumens, the device heats up during operation, which I only noticed when playing at home. When I mounted it on the bike in the cool autumn air, it didn't get warm at all even after an hour and a half of use. The small fins on the metal body seem to be more than enough to keep it cool at lower temperatures, at least that's why I haven't noticed any fading. One of the reasons I chose the 1600XXL is its ease of installation. It's a simple elastic that you simply thread over the poles and attach to the base of the lantern. If you're running narrower bars you can add a shim to the mix to make things a bit easier, but I don't need this with the taller bars on my bike. The 1600XXL is charged via a micro USB port hidden on the back. Durable rubber cover to protect against water. The power button on the top naturally turns the device on and off, but it also acts as a battery level indicator and mode switching control. However, the battery level function is not very good. 100 to 51% battery remaining, it shows the same green light. A series of small LED strips would provide much more information. Overall, though, I'm happy with my purchase. Paired with a helmet-mounted headlight, the 1600XXL gave me the wide field of view I was looking for while offering an insanely bright flashing mode for daytime road riding to get to and from the start of the trail. Pros: Compact, bright, easy to assemble, configurable Cons: Beam pattern requires some adjustments, poor battery monitoring, expensive
