It's an oil filter. Nothing else happens here.
I can't say anything about the function of the filter. All I know is that Fram has a great reputation which is why I keep coming back here. I'm writing this review because it fits the 2013 Mazda 3i Touring Skyactiv engine. There is conflicting information on the Internet about which filter model is suitable for Skyactiv. I think the errors came from Mazda who at one point misrepresented this. In any case, it fits the Mazda 3 Skyactiv. I hope this helps another Mazda owner avoid the frustration of choosing the wrong filter.
