The sizes given are a bit misleading, but not bad.
The 4 inch length must be the actual thin part going through the receiver. I thought 4 inches was the total length end to end, but that's the length of the part that actually fits in the receiver. It does fit though, and being longer makes it a little easier to get to the lock. In general a good buy. My receiver is standard 2".
