Very very picky about print settings

Full disclosure: I am new to 3D printing. But in my short experience I've printed quite a bit and with a fairly wide range of materials. This is the second brand of PLA+ I've tried and I have mostly good reviews for it. I LOVE the matte finish. It just looks cool. The main thing I want to share is that while some threads can be very forgiving, this is not one of them. If you do not select the preferred print settings, the print will fail. If you REALLY nail them, it will be rock solid and look great. I live in Colorado and it's dry in the winter so giving it a day or two to acclimate/dry is more than enough. My previous experience with PLA+ has shown that 200* is a good point, with a recommended range of 180*-220*. The recommended temperature range is 200*-230*, so I started with 205*. I started by printing a flat test pattern to see how long lines would fit on it. Anywhere below 220* thin underextruded lines remain 40% of the time. 225* would be nice, but there would inevitably be occasional layers that would not adhere/fuse to the previous layer and the print would break at minimal pressure. At 230*, the filament remains stable, but even at this temperature, increasing the print speed beyond 50/25 mm/s produces less acceptable results. be careful with the settings. I can recommend it with one small caveat.

Pros
  • Premium PLA filament
Cons
  • Slightly torn
