Review on 🔧 DORMAN 917-006 Counter Balance Shaft Seal Kit: Black - Efficient & Reliable Solution for Seamless Shaft Sealing by Jason Ingram

If your car has it, don't worry. But if you don't have it installed, get it.

F-series engine modification Honda did something similar as an aftermarket repair and it's all the same. You can actually tell if it's installed before you remove the timing cover if you know where to look. The left side of the metal part protrudes from the timing case, so the screw hole can be fixed on the cylinder block to the left of the timing case in the middle. The small seal is actually for the dipstick tube. Stone! I've heard warnings about replacing this pad as it tends to go bad and was glad to find out it was included. The large seal is the front seal of the balancer shaft. Mine was fine so I left the old one there but it's good to have in the kit. A metal gasket retainer isn't usually necessary if you're properly servicing your engine (check the PCV!) but in cases where pressure can build up. The weakest link in the engine is the oil seal, which is torn out by the pressure. The retainer prevents this. It's good that it's there and I'd wear it if it wasn't there, but check your PCV anyway, okay?
